Isn't she beautiful? It's too bad the above photograph isn't Bettie
Page. Years ago, someone on eBay claimed it was. The scan came from
the October 1948 issue of Photographer's Handbook.
Bettie Page was born Betty Page in Nashville Tennessee Apr. 22 1923.
Bettie later changed her name so it would match the spelling of her
siblings. Leaving a troubled childhood, disappointing marriage and not
so wonderful teaching career behind, Bettie Page left for New York City
in 1948 seeking fame and fortune. Bettie Page started taking acting
classes. While enjoying a nice walk at Coney Island, Bettie Page met the
man who would help her turn the world of pinup photography on fire,
Jerry Tibbs. Jerry saw something in Bettie Page; a nice, shiny,
protruding forehead. Jerry suggested to Bettie Page that she should wear
bangs. A little snip of the scissors and voila, a masterpiece was
created. One possible fact that escapes many Bettie Page fans is that
Bettie Page probably graced more magazine covers than anyone in history!
Original vintage Bettie Page photographs are rare especially 8 x 10"
photographs.
This rudimentary chronology of Bettie Page's work has been put together
using actual vintage documents. It would be greatly appreciated if you
