Everyone knows the Bettie Page Klaw photos and about the brother and
sister team of Irving and Paula Klaw so I am not going to bore you with
their story except to say that in order to save money, Paula eventually
took over the photographic duties and the Klaws were part of a 1950s
pornography witch hunt spearheaded by that irascible fellow
Estes Kefauver.
This witch hunt involved Bettie Page and was instrumental in her finally
leaving New York so she wouldn't be harassed. At first when I saw the
Klaw photos of Bettie Page I was appalled by what appeared to be an old
dingy looking dungeon of a studio. Then I found color images of Bettie
Page taken at the Klaw studio and my outlook changed. You can see the
the Klaw color photos of Bettie Page on the next page. The last B&W
photo was used for publication in BettieMaePage and obviously not
Bettie. I do love the photograph and included it in the Klaw section
because I believe it is a Klaw photo. It is possible the model's name is
Kevin Daley. It is also possible the the very last color photograph is
not a Klaw.
