Margie Harrison, Playboy's second feature model, was the first to carry the
title Playmate, and the first true centerfold. Playboy's first feature
model, Marilyn Monroe, although commonly considered a Playmate and
centerfold, was titled Sweetheart, and her photo was not a true centerfold
but appeared on page 19 of a 44 page publication. Margie's Playboy photos
were purchased from the Baumgarth Calendar Co. of Melrose Park Ill. Margie
is also one of four Playmates that appeared as a Playmate more than once,
the dates being 1/54 and 6/54. She also graced the pages of "Follies",
"Gala", "Modern Sunbathing" and "Amateur Art and Camera" magazines and
probably others. I have been unable to find her height, weight, measurements
or birthday or if she is still alive but I assume that she is, as I have not
been able to find an obituary either. I have seen photos of her that were
unmistakably taken at Corriganville, a movie set in the Hollywood area and
at the Hacienda, a figure model hot spot. Many models who were photographed
at one or both of those places were also photographed at the Spider Pool,
another hot spot, but I have not seen any that I can identify of her taken
there. Do not take that to mean that there are none. I would not be the least
bit surprised if some show up. It seems as though Margie usually worked alone
but there are some group photos but always the same models, at least the ones
that I have seen. I have seen two fetish photos of Margie, which seem out of
character for her, no doubt there are others, I don't know who took them.
During 1955 Margie lived at 3950 East Blvd. in Los Angeles, Ca. I don't know
how long she lived there or if she was born there. Margie was photographed by
Peter Gowland; Walter Paist and Guy Tyler both took stereo slides of her. She
was no doubt photoed by others too, I am still looking for names. Margie
modeled for the ACME Model Club, a group of photographers that did figure model
photography in the LA area. I also suspect, but have been unable to find
evidence, that she had some affiliation with the ACME Model Agency, also
located in the LA area. Finding photos of Margie is challenging but there are
plenty out there, visit the vintage sites, a few can be found searching for
her by name but will prove to be mostly a waste of time. Learn what to look
for, do not expect to find many of her photos identified. Two tips for finding
Margie's photos are that in nearly every photo I have seen where her ears are
clearly visible, is that she is wearing small hoop earrings, also Margie has
an odd mark or scar on her left shoulder blade that can be seen when her back
