This set of scans came from an estate which contained one of the largest
collections of original 3D slides ever found. They were probably taken
on the West Coast since some of images were snapped on a set during a
movie production. Many feature different areas around California as a
backdrop. The name Hank Casper is scrawled in pencil across several of
the slide mounts along with the names of several
models.
This section contains almost 500 images and are a spectacular reflection
of photography that segues from the late 1950s to the early 1960s. Hank
documented some of his adventures in 3D during a trip to the Polynesian
Islands. I own a good portion of the Hank Casper collection and the scans
in this section are cleaned-up versions of scans which were downloaded
from a public auction site (eBay).
If you are a casual or serious collector of photography, 3D is the way
to go. It's relatively easy to start with a vintage
Realist
viewer that can be picked on eBay for a reasonable price. Then the fun
begins hunting down vintage slides. Viewing Realist format film is
superior to View-Master since the viewing area is much larger.
